What do Wedding Photographers really do?

When you book me to tell the story of your wedding day you are booking far more than just a wedding photographer. I will be there with you both to help and document your wedding. I want you to know you can trust me and I have your back, so when you check the weather it says dry and sunny you set up for a gorgeous outdoor ceremony, then just as the bride opens her mouth to say “I do” there is a massive clap of thunder followed quickly by a hail storm in high summer, I get the shots of everyone dashing into the tiny gazebo while you carry on your ceremony then I’ll help carry the chairs; when you discover your beautiful shoes have given you a massive blister I’ll get your flatties, when you don’t know what to do with your button hole, we’ll help you fix it to your jacket then right way round, (amongst our kit we carry pins, safety pins, blue tack, scissors and pain killers) when your dress gaps and you need tit tape just call me in the morning and I’ll pick it up on my way over (yes this happened) when a swarm of wasps cover your reception area I’ll help you move your tables and chairs.

If your tractor breaks down with half your guests in and the bride then I’ll be there to photograph it and of course you can borrow my car to pick up the guests (yes this happened too) when your family want 20 group shots and you want just 5 I’ll help you all through it so you get what you want. If the red arrows do a surprise fly by while in the middle of your speeches I’ll get that shot too, when you have a complete melt down days before your wedding because it is an over whelming process, of course you can call me and I’ll remind you what the important bits of the day are and tell you that it’s just you and your best friend hanging out for the day, it’s all going to be fine I promise. And if you are so worried about standing up to do your speech and you end up crying the whole way through it then when it’s over you are one starving marvin we will get you a take away from the local, it’s all cool. These are all real stories, that’s was I love, the unexpected.

Weddings are a glorious celebration, it’s the best day ever but sometimes weird stuff happens, you think is going to ruin the day, but trust me, it really won’t because it will become part of your story. And that’s what I photograph, naturally and unobtrusively.
