Family and Friends travel a lot for weddings, because understand the importance of just being there..supporting the creation of a whole new family. Allison and Chris travelled from USA to the sleepy backwater in South Devon, so that they could get married at Shute Barton, Axminster; a place that means a great deal to Chris and his family. This really felt like a home from home, relaxed, DIY wedding that was full of great detail and brimming with love.
Family and friends travelled form all over the world to gather at this family home to celebrate Chris and Allison’s humanist wedding ceremony. They married in the courtyard, outside the family home. It was decked with vintage chairs, there was singing and readings alone with personalised promises made to one another.
After the ceremony we celebrated with a feast created by the excellent Astridges while drinking Cider and homemade lemonade. The marquee was beautifully styled with items from Virginia Vintage Hire that set the scene for a wonderful laid back garden wedding.
Honition Wedding at Shute Barton
I experienced true originality with the best non cake cutting set up… ever, as these guys decided to do a Piñata instead!! It was so much more fun, everyone got involved, it was really funny to watch and best of all a heap of sweets fell to the ground at the end. I never too sure what the meaning of the cake sitting is at a wedding, but I totally got that a Piñata is much better to photograph and the guests loved it too!
The spirit of making your wedding you own way is key to making your first day together as a couple truly meaningful. Fill a wedding day with stuff that you love, with people you care for and take time to enjoy it…together. Congratulation Chris and Allison, your wedding was full of love and happiness and I was thrilled to be asked to capture your story.
