Last week I has the pleasure of meeting the team that runs Bridwell Park, a gorgeous luxury wedding venue hidden away in the Devon countryside. As the gates clicked opened I was unexpectedly greeted by a herd of deer, It was a beautiful sight. The combination of the antlers, oak trees and large open space for a moment I felt like I was in Richmond Park.

As I drove up the long drive the river Culm babbled, flowing into a large natural water lake surrounded by ancient oak trees.

The large Georgian building came into sight. Set in 100 acres of parkland this has to be one of Devon’s finest wedding venues. It boasts a variety of locations to host your wedding party including an orangery, old stables and a decommissioned gothic chapel.

In the house there is opulence dripping from very aspect of the property, and rightly so as it is the family home to Lord and Lady Mountbatten. Each room looks like a scene from County Living, but yet it remains homely and liveable.It oozes relaxed grandeur, I would be totally happy to curl up with a book on the sofa while being overlooked by a snapshot of the Queen relaxing.

It is a family home after all and that is the beauty of this venue, unlike many stately homes that you can hire, you often feel like a guest, but at Bridwell is different, it is a home like no other. It is not full of pompousness and awkwardness like many other stately homes that I have visited, it is very much my home is your home. I felt welcome, relaxed and delighted as soon as I entered.

This is truly one of Devon’s finest wedding venues a hidden gem to hire for the weekend or longer if you fancy. The flexibility of the owners is refreshing, there seems to be very few rules, which I love. I encourage all couples looking for a luxurious location to host your wedding to view Bridwell. You will get exclusive use of the whole property and of course there is the option of using the heli pad if you feel Devon is a bit far.
