The Custard Factory guide to epicness

Yesterday was a whole bunch of firsts. The first time you do something you remember it, you are struck by it and it stays with you forever. I wanted some Firsts, I made myself do stuff that I would not normally do. Travelling on my own – don’t really like it, travelling on the train – never really happens. Travelling on my own to a new city – that give’s me butterflies in my tummy but also a flood of excitement, which meant I hardly slept the night before.

It was my first time to Birmingham, it have been round it through it and pass it loads, but never actually into it. It was vibrant, it had a buzz about it, a history and story. I liked it. It was my first tome to the Welcome Home Workshop by the incredibly talented Emma Case and Pete, don’t forget Pete as he’s way more than a crazy side kick. They are one whole, complete awesome collective.

The workshop was emotional, that’s a first too. Weddings alway give me a lump in my throat, some wedding speeches I am sobbing behind my camera, but a workshop? It’s the first time I have welled up in front of a bunch of people are hardly know, while talking about a carpet.

But the workshop hits you, Bam! It was unlike any other creative training day, ( is that even the right thing to call it?) It really got to the heart of what makes me tick, it made me thinking about stuff that I know my business needs to grow but I have been too wrapped up in other stuff to make happen.

We did a little photoshoot in the afternoon at The Custard Factory with the lovely Millie and Jo, so great to meet these amazing photographers too.

This workshop was a tonic. It was wholesome, nourishing and full of goodness. I felt like I was welcomed into Emma and Pete’s home, for which I am forever grateful.
